Coming Up With Interesting Vacation Ideas for Our Family

Tupelo is a Mississippi town with growing pains. If I have to guess by all the furniture outlet stores over here, the furniture business is the main industry.
Lots of places that seem to be geared toward conventions and such. If this place is any indication, the state of Mississippi is getting on the map. The buzz is that they are getting a Toyota plant sometime soon. I know people need jobs, but it seems a shame that this area is being industrialized. While the town itself is flat, the outlying areas remind me of North Carolina which should be considered when dreaming up vacation ideas for this area! It's really worth coming to see. The Natchez Trace is not very far away, either. Once you get outside of the city limits, you're in the country!

We decided against staying in the cabins at Tishomingo Park and opted for the BRAND NEW cabins at Little Bear Creek Lake about 70 miles away in Alabama. Hubby said I never really gave Tupelo a chance and he's probably right because I wanted to be in a place where the kids and I could walk and explore! He just didn't want to have to drive so much and I do have sympathy for him there.

The cabins here are so nice. They are new and everything is so nice. The water in the lake is so clean it's amazing and there's a little pier over the water. There are mussel shells at the water's edge and you'd think they had valuable pearls in each one the way the girls get so excited every time they find one.

There's not much traffic and we're so close to the little beach that we can walk. There's a family that's staying here from only 7 miles away! They brought their little boys for a mini-vacation. The kids are playing together pretty good for now, but we all know how that goes; in a couple of days they'll be familiar enough for the fusses to start!

Our cabin has a screened in balcony, but it's too hot to sit on it right now. It's HOT! I'm keeping the AC rolling cause Little One has heat rash. We have a lovely lightweight travel crib that I can highly recommend that is very easy to use and to pack. The only problem with this portable crib is that Little One won't sleep in it. So far all the kids seem really adamant about co-sleeping till they go off to college!

I want to make some day trips like to Huntsville and music stuff so if anyone reads this and knows the area and can make suggestions on tourist spots as well as those wonderful local spots of interest, please include it in the blog comments!
